2. Netherwood Hockey Club

Netherwood Ladies Hockey Club

Netherwood Hockey Club was not named after a place or area but from a commercial building that was located in Manor Row, Bradford, where girls from Boyce Welch & Co, a firm of Chartered Accountants, formed the club in 1965.

Over the years the home ground has been based in Wibsey Park, Horsfall Playing Fields, Girlington Meths Cricket Ground, the Astroturf pitch at Scholemoor and Thornton Grammar School, where they met and subsequantly merged with Bradford Hockey Club.

A number of players have started their playing days with Netherwood including Jill Atkins, former England and Great Britain captain and Olympic medal winner, who played alongside her two sisters.
